The second instance of ἐρήμου is suppose to be νότου south wind, the vulgate uses africo.
Herodotus 4.185
ὑπὲρ δὲ τῆς ὀφρύης τὸ πρὸς νότου καὶ ἐς μεσόγαιαν τῆς Λιβύης ἔρημος καὶ ἄνυδρος
"Beyond this ridge, the southern and inland parts of Libya are desolate and waterless"
The Septuagint uses ἔρημος for both מדבר and ערבה, but מדבר is really ἄνυδρος and ערבה is ἔρημος and i believe the distinction is that מדבר is commonly used to describe the Syrian Desert (1 Kings 19:15) and ערבה the Arabian Desert (Numbers 22:1).

τὰ ἄνυδρα τῆς Συρίης
"Arid land of Syria"
In Genesis 24:62 ἐρήμου is used for מבוא, the verb בוא is δύω hence מבוא is δυσμή setting, the quarter of sunset, west. Another west word is ערב being ἕσπερος and ἑσπερινός for מערב.
Notus (Νότος) the Greek god of the south wind, associated with the storms of late summer and early autumn, hence also נגב being associated with storms also.
Psalm 126:4 ὡς χειμάρρους ἐν τῷ νότῳ [כאפיקים בנגב] [ὡς πηγάς ἐν τῷ νότῳ]
"like fonts in the south"
Eze 47:19 south side southward [פאת נגב תימנה]
This is similar to Herodotus 2.8 "πρὸς μεσαμβρίην τε καὶ νότον" for פאת is the same preposition as πρὸς and תימנה is μεσαμβρίην
Herodotus 7.201 τῶν πρὸς νότον καὶ μεσαμβρίη "towards the south wind and south"
Herodotus 4.99 ἡ ἀρχαίη Σκυθίη ἐστί, πρὸς μεσαμβρίην τε καὶ νότον ἄνεμον "The ancient Scythian land begins at the Ister and faces south and the south wind"
Herodotus uses two words for south here.
Zechariah 7:7 ἡ ὀρεινὴ καὶ ἡ πεδινὴ κατῳκεῖτο / הנגב והשפלה ישב
השפלה means ἡ ταπεινὴ "low-lying" (χώρη, γῆ) and Phoenicians used this for Hispania or Hispalis
for 𐤀𐤉 𐤔𐤐𐤋 means γῆ ταπεινὴ cf. 𐤀𐤉 𐤔𐤐𐤍 for the marshy lowlands around the Guadalquivir River (ὁδός ἡ μεγάλη) which is said to have inspired the Atlantis story.
